Dr. Bobbye Fry

University of Incarnate Word

Please join me in recognizing Dr. Bobbye Fry as TACARO’s newest Honorary Member. Bobbye began
her career in higher education in 1979 as a Veterans Advisor at McMurry University in Abilene, Texas. While
at McMurry, she also served as an assistant registrar and registrar before departing for the University of
Incarnate Word in San Antonio, where she served from 1997 to present in various capacities including
Registrar, Special Assistant for Projects for the Vice President for Enrollment Management; and Coordinator of Academic Planning and Communication.

Dr. Fry’s contributions to TACRAO are numerous. She has served as a member of the nominations and
elections committee on multiple occasions; a member of the local arrangements committee; served as
TACRAO secretary from 1997-1999; many different stints on the TACRAO newsletter committee and served as editor; and multiple TACRAO standing and program planning committees. While at McMurry, she was also
involved in the West Texas TACRAO and served in many different leadership positions.

In addition to her TACRAO involvement, Bobbye has been involved in SACRAO and served as secretary
from 2013-2016 and chair of the registration and records management committee. She has led countless
presentations at TACRAO, SACRAO, and AACRAO on topics ranging from disaster recovery; assessment;
customer service based on the Disney model; FERPA; and interviewing techniques.
Bobbye holds an undergraduate degree in Art and English Education from the University of Texas
Permian Basin; a Master of Arts in English from Hardin-Simmons University; and an Doctorate of Education
Degree from Texas Tech University.

Bobbye is joined here tonight by her fiancée, Jay Wilson, and long-time friend Sherri Steele. Bobbye
shared that “one of the best benefits of active membership in TACRAO is the ability to contact friends at other institutions to gain their input to solve problems at my own institution. These outreach opportunities formed some of my most treasured friendships and memories of TACRAO. In my retirement, I plan to travel, both domestically and abroad, and organize my craft supplies so I can finally do crafty things.”
TACRAO, please join me in recognizing Dr. Bobbye Fry as TACRAO’s newest honorary member.
