Chris Gore

Honorary Membership
Kilgore College

It is an honor and a privilege to recognize Chris Gore as a TACRAO Honorary Member. Chris has served
over thirty years in higher education in the realms of School Relations, Admissions, International Student
Services, Registrar, Dean of Enrollment Management, Dean of Students, and 22 concurrently running years of
history and geography adjunct instruction.

Chris has worked for Sam Houston State University, Navarro College, Midwestern State University,
Oklahoma State University, and Kilgore College. He currently serves as the Dean of Students at Kilgore College. Chris shared that he was a first-generation college student and that he started working in higher education just before the internet, totaled his car the first week ever on the road while recruiting students, never used GPS to find a college fair, covered every TACRAO travel week except the Coastal Bend area (for those of you who have been an admissions road warrior – you’ll see why Chris says this was “a big regret”).

Chris also shared his memories of how he published the News from the Road for admissions
counselors, served on TACRAO hospitality committees for the Wichita Falls and Waco Conferences, attended the La Quinta Toga Party, got stuck in a San Antonio elevator during the San Antonio TACRAO, was present forthe original South Padre Island hot tub encounter, had an expo at the Bell County Expo program, danced like Richard Dragon in El Paso, replaced Don Carter’s toilet tissue with picante sauce soaked wash clothes in Dallas, and did shadow box dancing in College Station, and more.

Chris writes, “Some of these TACRAO reflections and other shared memories (not listed) might make
the organization reconsider this honorary membership. Then again, TACRAO is a fun, loving, compassionate
family. I’ve truly enjoyed being that crazy uncle over the years.”

TACRAO, please join me in recognizing Chris Gore as TACRAO’s newest honorary member.
